Where it started
Minecraft after the briefing felt the below concepts were strongest in terms of block and color theory.
However, we felt the blocks and use case of them didn't align with the people who'd actually be purchasing the keyboards.
The didn't use many "OG" blocks or most iconic—first time loaded blocked.
We Explored
We went back to the drawing board and out of the 830 blocks in minecraft, picked out
the most iconic 61 textures to represent our Block board.
However, it still felt random..
The Solution
Instead of diving into a territory of placing random blocks, even attempting to match Minercaft
blocks to specific letters.. T for TNT, ect.
I decided to convert the blocks into two specific types of gradients using the different shades of greys, blues, purples—that later became the final.
